World Cup 2014: Deadline for applications approaching
The deadline for sending applications to take part at World Cup 2014 at the end of November in the Czech Republic is already this Wednesday, 22 October. So far, 11 countries from 4 continents have registered in the competition and several others have expressed interest.
UNIF has received applications from the following countries (in the order as they came):
Czech Republic, USA, Ireland, Slovakia, France, Ukraine, Germany, Switzerland, Romania, South Korea, Mali
Some other countries have expressed interest in taking part in the competition, but are yet to confirm their presence.
About Futnet World Cup 2014
UNIF and Czech Futnet Association organize Futnet World Cup 2014 as the main international competition for men's national teams this year. The event will be held from Friday 28th November till Sunday 30th November 2014 in Sport Centre Brandýs nad Labem (CZE).
It is a team competition where one (1) match consists of several games (disciplines) in a fixed order. There is no restriction on the participation of players in different disciplines, but, where applicable, the players in the second single and second double must be different from those in the first single and first double (see Playoff stage).
Playing system
Group stage – Friday, November 28th, 08.30 – 18.30h
One (1) match consists of three games in this order: single – double – triple
For each game won, the team receives one (1) point. To win a game, the player/team has to win two sets according to Laws of Futnet.
With 12-16 participating countries, matches will be played in four (4) basic groups A, B, C, D. Each group has three (3) or four (4) teams that play each other. Best two teams from each group will advance to the quarterfinal.
Playoff stage – Saturday, November 29th, 10.00 – 17.00h
One (1) match consists of minimum three (3) and maximum five (5) games in this order: 1st single – 1st double – triple – 2nd double – 2nd single
The winner is the team to first win three games. To win a game, the player/team has to win two sets according to Laws of Futnet. For each game won, the team receives one (1) point.
The player in the 1st single must be different from the player in the 2nd single. Also, the players in the 1st double must be different from the players in the 2nd double.
Final day – Sunday, November 30th, 09.00 – 17.00h
Final day will see two (2) semi-final matches, match for 3rd place and final match for team world champion.
Webstreaming, TV and website
All matches of the main hall will be broadcasted live all over the world on www.tvcom.cz and later available for on-demand viewing so the teams will be able to analyse their performance. All of this free of charge!
Negotiations are underway with the Czech TVsport channel to record all important parts of the tournament, especially from the final stage which would be broadcasted later (60 min) on Czech TV.
