World Championships 2012
This year the World Championships are coming back to the country which gave this sport to the world almost 100 years ago and where these events are eagerly awaited by thousands of fans as the highlights of the year.
Last year’s decision of the futnet world-governing body Union Internationale de Futnet (UNIF) to award the hosting of the World Championships in all categories to the Czech Republic coincided with 40th anniversary of the existence of the Czech Futnet Association which is keen to show the world that futnet is a sport not only with a great tradition, but above all a fantastic future as one of the most spectacular and dynamic sports.
First, on 3 and 4 November in the university town of Brno in Moravia, the eastern part of the Czech Republic, it will be the Women’s and U21 Juniors World Championships. The women’s competition is the showcase of great futnet skills of women of all ages who win the admiration and respect of all the fans while the juniors event for U21 male players offer a fantastic opportunity to see many budding talents and future stars of futnet. Both events are open to countries from all over the world and are held in the three futnet disciplines – single, double and triple – so there are as many as six sets of medals to give away.
And then, a month later, on 7 to 9 December, the eyes of all futnet fans will be on Nymburk, a pictureque town just northwest of the Czech capital of Prague, where the top male players from all over the world will be competing for the titles of World Champions in single, double and triple.
Do not miss out on the great futnet experience this year, come to enjoy the show and cheer on your team to the Women’s and Juniors World Championships on 3 and 4 of November in Brno and the Men’s World Championships on 7 to 9 of December in Nymburk.
