US National Futnet Championship
The weekend of 3 and 4 December the best futnet players from all over the USA gathered in Chicago, Illinois, to take part in the US National Futnet Championship.
The championship was played as a team competition. Each team consisted of 4 or 5 players who competed in all three disciplines: singles, doubles and triples, though in the final stage of the competition only the triples were played. Each participant could take part only in 2 out of 3 disciplines. UNIF international rules were used, that means one bounce in all three disciplines.
Jan Kafka from the US Futnet Association:
“The organization of the competition was superb: the gym, the food and drinks, everything was perfect and the athletic level was pretty high. It was a great opportunity for see the best futnet players in action some of whom will represent the USA in next World Championship in December 2012 in Czech Republic.
Our team, San Diego, played well in the doubles (check out the video) and have a great potential since my son Lukas who plays for it is only 14, but we missed an experienced US national Alex Skultety who is in Czech Republic training and preparing for the World Championship.”
Final results
1st Chicago Fire: Chris Mitrache, Sandu Anton, Radu Bentley, Fluviul Onita
2nd Philadelphia Stones: Adrian Cozma, Gabriel Cozma...
3rd Philadelphia Sharks: George Tarau, Calin Tarau .....
Congratulations to the winners and we hope that after this year’s US participation in the international youth futnet camp we can look forward to seeing more US players at international futnet events also next year, the most important being, of course, the World Championship.
