Updated: Round 2 of NIFTL
2nd round of Northern Ireland Futnet League (NIFTL) is taking place this Sunday, 30 October, in Belfast with the participation of eight teams. Will the Mayo team from Ireland repeat its victory?
Compared to the first round, two more teams have decided to join in the futnet adventure which proves that this sport is gradually drawing more and more attention in Northern Ireland. As we learnt from Stefan Terek, the main organiser of the NIFTL, about 100 spectators, similar crowd as in the last round, are expected in Shankill Leisure Centre where the tournament will held between 10 am and 4 pm. A special guest will be the Czech ambassador to Northern Ireland Mr Milan Mládek who can see for himself how this traditional Czech sport is successfully being exported to new destinations. Families with children are particularly welcome as the event will be associated also with a Halloween celebration.

Mr Terek has also told us that plans are underway to found a Northern Ireland Futnet Association in near future and, as soon as possible, join our European futnet family at EFTA. Fingers crossed for our friends in Northern Ireland and lots of luck to all the teams taking part in 2nd round of NIFTL!

2nd round of NIFTL was won again by an Irish team, but this time, in the absence of Mayo, it was Maynooth (Ireland and Slovakia) who defeated the newcomers from Prespork 1249 (Slovakia), third place went to the home team of Nicem (Northern Ireland).
Below is the ranking after the first two rounds of NIFTL. The winner of each round receives 12 points, 2nd team 10 points, 3rd 8 points. Teams at 4th-9th place get from 6 to 1 point. With this kind of ranking the organisers want to encourage the teams to a regular participation in the league. Next round is scheduled on 27 November 2011.
