Szczecin is Polish Champion 2011
On 10 and 11 of December VI Polish Championship in Futnet – Las Vegas Power Energy Drink took place in the city of Tomaszów Mazowiecki which welcomed 12 futnet teams from all over Poland. The Polish Champion is again the team of Siatkonoga Szczecin who lost just one set in the whole tournament.
12 teams were split into three groups:
Group A: Blokers Łódź A, Amatorski Tenis Szczeciński, Port Lotniczy Gdańsk, Lechia Tomaszów Mazowiecki
Group B: Tercet Pomorski. Blokers Łódź B, Complex Myślibórz, UKS Milenium Gliwice II
Group C: Siatkonoga Szczecin, Zjednoczeni Bełchatów, UKS Milenium Gliwice, Blokers Łódź U-23
On Saturday the group stage took place. Teams which had 1st and 2nd place after group stage were promoted to quarter finals without any extra qualifications. Teams which had 3rd place in their groups were supposed to play extra games, but because one of the players from Port Lotniczy Gdańsk (3rd in Group A), other 3rd teams – from group B and C – were promoted to quarter finals automatically as well.
Sunday saw the quarterfinals, semifinals, 3rd place game and the final. Even if all the games in the quarterfinals were won without loosing a set, the games were very exciting. Also semifinals were very interesting for fans. But the highest level of futnet emotions was given by the players in the final. Blokers Łódź A in their pursuit of the title of the Polish Champion won 1st set, but Siatkonoga Szczecin who were defending the title won 2nd and 3rd set. The players from Szczecin defended the title in a wonderful style – without loosing a game and with just one lost set. They showed why they had already won four titles of Polish Champions in futnet.
Arkadiusz Kondraciuk from Siatkonoga Szczecin was chosen as the MVP of the tournament.
The main referee of the tournament was David Vauthey from Switzerland who came as a representative of UNIF.
