Oldest international tournament
On 23 July 2011 the oldest international tournament in Czech Republic and probably also the oldest international futnet tournament in the world celebrates its 50th birthday.
Šacung OMV International Tournament started in 1962 and is nowadays open to players from Czech leagues and abroad. The popularity of this triples tournament among players is ensured by the quality playing field (clay court with a good drainage system), sizeable audience (300-400 people), valuable prizes (this year about 4 000 EUR) and extensive media coverage. The public, in turn, are drawn to the tournament by the performances of top futnet teams, friendly atmosphere, nice environment and various accompanying events. Congratulations to the tournament that has lived half a century, we wish „him“ at least another 50 years and we hope that the weather will permit the celebration of its 50th birthday in style!

50th Šacung OMV international tournament has its winner – the home team of Šacung beat Karlovy Vary (both Czech Republic) in the final 2:0. Apart from great futnet performances, the crowds could enjoy two exhibition futnet matches – one of former Slavia and Sparta Prague football players and the other one between the veteran teams of Šacung and Merida, accompanied with a very curious ritual of “kissing the foot” commemorating an old Šacung custom from challenge matches in the past. As you can see in the pictures, they really did have fun today in Šacung!
