NIFTL after three rounds
Three rounds of Northern Ireland Futnet League (NIFTL) have taken place so far with the participation of eight teams composed of players of various nationalities. Some of them play futnet regularly, for others it is their first, but hugely enjoyed experience with this sport which they hope to develop into a long-lasting quality relationship.
The third round saw 14 matches and a somewhat surprising victory in the final of Antrim Boys against Vrabl Babl. Third place went to Nicem that defeated the Shankill Leisure Centre team for whom it was their first league appearance.
The event was honoured by the presence of Mr Milan Mládek, the consul of the Czech Republic in Northern Ireland. During his visit he was accompanied by Ms Iris McIlroy, Asst Leisure Manager of the Shankill Leisure Centre which hosts the NIFTL and actively supports the development of futnet in Belfast.
After three rounds, the ranking is as follows:
1. Nicem NI 24 pts
2. Maynooth ROI 22 pts
3. Vrabl Babl CZ 21 pts
Just to remind you, the winner of each round receives 12 points, 2nd team 10 points, 3rd 8 points. Teams at 4th-9th place get from 6 to 1 point. With this kind of ranking the organisers want to encourage the teams to a regular participation in the league.
The premiere edition of Northern Ireland Futnet League consists of 9 rounds played between September 2011 and June 2012. The third round was the last one this year since the league enters in a Christmas recess now and will resume on 22 January.
