News from Members and Candidates
An overview of the latest developments from UNIF member associations and candidate countries. Today an update from Ukraine and Poland and the latest on UNIF enlargement process.
First futnet school in Ukraine
29 November 2011 is the date of the opening of the first Futnet School in Ukraine. The trainings are provided to all children interested in futnet at one of the secondary schools in Kyiv. For the time being, there are 14 children aged 9 and 10 who will train twice a week under the supervision of some of the members of the Ukrainian Futnet Association. Young futnet players are mostly the pupils of this school. The Ukrainian Futnet Association will make an effort to organize the same classes also in other cities all around the country.
VI Polish Futnet Championship
This weekend, on 10 and 11 December, the town of Tomaszow Mazowiecki in central Poland will welcome the best Polish futnet players for VI Polish Futnet Championships Las Vegas Power Energy Drink. The competition will be played in doubles and is organised by the Polish Futnet Association (Siatkonoga Polska).
New candidate countries
During the month of November and early December we have received several requests for information about the conditions of UNIF membership from various countries, namely Pakistan, India and Paraguay. Communication is now ongoing between the representatives of these countries and UNIF Secretariat to make sure all the necessary affiliation requirements are duly observed.
Contacts have been established also with the Korean Jokgu Association. Jokgu shares many similarities with futnet and is highly popular in South Korea.
We have received news from Wales where a tournament in single is planned in near future and the foundation of the Welsh association is under consideration.
For already some time there have been good working relations with Ireland and Northern Ireland. In Belfast, a UNIF coaching course is scheduled for 4 and 5 February next year and steps are being taken to found the Northern Ireland Futnet Association early next year.
