Main Conclusions of UNIF Congress
UNIF Extraordinary General Assembly, held on 7 of October in Venaco, France, adopted several important decisions regarding the current structure of the organisation and its competitions.
David Solano from Costa Rica was elected UNIF's new president to replace the outgoing Massimo Nobile who had resigned due to personal reasons. Mr Solano became the first non-European president of the futnet world-governing body.
The positions of Treasurer and Administrative Secretary were also subject to vote. New UNIF Treasurer is Abdelkrim Abour (France) and Administrative Secretary Zuzana Viňanská (Slovakia).
It was decided that the vice-presidency would always be held by the president of one of the continental associations, for the current period it will be Kamil Kleník, president of European Futnet Association.
The current legislative term will end next year and next UNIF Congress – approved to be held on the occasion of the World Championships in the Czech Republic – will elect new UNIF executive officials.
Several statutory amendments were adopted, one of the most important is the creation of a new category of membership for Associate Members. The Statutes define them as clubs or organisations carrying out futnet activities (“entities promoting futnet”) in countries or independent territories where there is no national association recognised by UNIF may be admitted as Associate Members. Associate Membership shall lapse when a properly constituted national association in that country is admitted to UNIF and it shall not extend for more than two years unless the Executive Board decides otherwise.
Regarding UNIF's competitions, it was decided that the age of juniors would be raised to 21 years. The Czech Republic was chosen as the host country for 2012 World Championships.
According to the new Statutes, the Minutes of the Congress shall be sent to the members within 45 days of the termination of the Congress. Members will then have 20 days to submit any comments or objections. In the absence of any objections within the 20-day period, the minutes shall be considered adopted.
