Last Smash
This weekend the TJ Pankrác sports hall in Prague will see 26th edition of the oldest international indoor tournament which traditionally closes down the futnet season in the Czech Republic.
Lubos Albrecht, head of futnet team TJ Pankrac in Prague, the organiser of the event:
“Poslední smeč or Last Smash as translated into English is a traditional futnet tournament in triples and the oldest international indoor tournament.
Many teams playing highest Czech and Slovak competitions and with them the best futnet players, including the Czech and Slovak world champions, take part in the tournament.
For the first time it was organised in 1984 and the winner was Slavoj Hloubetin’s triple consisting of J. Smejkal, J. Lostak and V. Hrachovec.
The competition is held over two weekend days, on Saturday the group matches, on Sunday morning matches in qualification groups, in the afternoon semifinal and final matches.
As usual the event is held in TJ Pankrac hall in Prague. The name of the tournament reflects the fact that it is the last major event of the season. It is organised every year before Christmas, this year’s date is 17 and 18 December 2011 and it is 26th edition. The organiser is TJ Pankrac Praha futnet team.
The main prize for winner is the Challenge Cup TJ Pankrac Praha and there are also financial and material prizes.
The footage of the semifinal and final matches is broadcasted on TV several times and this year will be no exception.”

The Last Smash tournament that took place on 17 and 18 December brought victory to the team of Karlovy Vary who beat DPMK Kosice 2:1 in the final. Third place went to Sacung A who won against their fellow club players from Sacung B 2:1. All the results are available at this link.
