England’s preparation for EC
There are many people in England who know and use futnet as a part of football training, but not that many yet who would know and practise it as an independent sport. Hopefully, this could gradually change as England became a member of EFTA last year. This year their national squad are going to participate in 1st Men’s European Championship under EFTA’s auspices that will take place on 7 and 8 October in Corte, Corsica. It will be England’s first participation in an international futnet tournament and they are taking their preparation very seriously as proved by this training report they sent in last week.
England Futnet Report
England continued their training for the European Championships this week with an intensive residential training camp on the Isle of Wight. The camp ran from Monday 11th to Wednesday 13th and it was very useful for the management staff to gage where improvements must be made. Across the three days a series of fitness and technical drills were run, with clear marked improvements in the players’ ability as the sessions progressed. Later on the squad began to work on tactical elements of the game, experimenting with different serves, and mixing up the doubles partners to improve communication and understanding within the squad as the different pairings combined in different ways. The camp culminated in round robin singles tournament.
To continue their development and preparation England are currently in talks with various other international teams over playing friendly matches in the build-up to the European Championships.
The players participating in the camp were:
Paul Whelan – England Captain
Paul is a very strong futnet player,
with excellent touch and control, and great agility.
Elliot Yandzio
Elliot is a highly skilful footballer with excellent positioning
and a good understanding of futnet.
Joe Monks
Joe is a model professional who trains hard,
has fantastic awareness and is a good communicator.
