David Solano elected new UNIF President
During the UNIF Extraordinary Congress, held on 7 October in Corsica, France, the Costa Rican David Solano was unanimously elected as the new UNIF President, in substitution of the Swiss Massimo Nobile, who was one of the promoters for the candidacy of the new president, along with Slovakia, Czech Republic and France.
The new president of the futnet world-governing body has a degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Costa Rica and a diploma in Sports Management of the FIFA-CIES Course. Mr Solano is currently also the coach assistant and Physical Therapist of Costa Rica Homeless World Cup Association and president of Costa Rican Futnet Association.
His sportive background registers several national and international tournaments in high school basketball and at present participation in the Costa Rican National Futnet League.
Another important fact that supported Mr Solano's presidential bid is that he can speak four languages: Spanish, English, Italian and Portuguese.
The goals set by the new administration in UNIF, led by the first non-European president in the history of our sport, include updating the existing marketing and communication guidelines, targeting new sponsorship and partnership opportunities, the duplication of the amount of UNIF’s members in a short term and the support to the creation of another UNIF's continental futnet body, the Panamerican Futnet Association.
UNIF would like to thank the outgoing President Mr Massimo Nobile for his invaluable contribution to the development of futnet during his mandate and wishes him all the best in his work for the Swiss Association as well as on a European level. At the same time, we congratulate Mr David Solano on his electoral success and are looking forward to the further expansion of futnet under the presidency of such a committed professional.
