Czech Republic - World Champions of 2014
World’s top futnet teams delighted the fans with their amazing technical skills and feisty, but fair-play spirit during the three days of UNIF Futnet World Cup 2014 that took place at the end of November in the Czech Republic.
All the jaw-dropping moves, from smashes through spikes to drop-balls and scissors, were to be seen on 28-30 November in the Sports Centre of the Czech town of Brandys nad Labem.
To the great joy of the home fans, the Czech national team finally managed to break the Slovak spell of the last few years and made sure the cherished cup for the World Champions stayed close to Prague. In the final they beat their eternal rivals from Slovakia 3:0, though it was no easy win as it may seem from the final score. After a convincing performance, the third place went to Romania who defeated Hungary 3:0.
But it was not only the Top 4 that brought quality and excitement to the tournament. France entertained the supporters with fantastic acrobatic moves and South Korea, as always, won the hearts of all the spectators with their great technique and pure joy after each point scored. Romania and Hungary showed their traditional strength and Poland an admirable progress, only narrowly missing victory in their quarterfinal games against Hungary.
The teams of Mali and Tunisia gave promising performances, demonstrating their athletic abilities and technical skills, in their first international appearance. Futnet in Africa has definitely a lot of potential.
